The Best Japanese Anime Character Voted By The Japanese Media

An excellent comic work must be inseparable from the impressive character roles in addition to the excellent plot.

Recently, the Japanese media company BookLive Inc. announced that they are holding the first awards for the best manga characters in the Japanese manga industry.

The awards are divided into four divisions: Best Male Lead Award, Best Female Lead Award, Best Male Supporting Character Award, and Best Supporting Female Award.

The selection of the finalist characters for each project was decided by a panel of judges on the recommendation of the fans.

Let's take a look at which characters are successfully shortlisted!

Best Male Lead Award Nominations:

Eren Yeager (Attack on Titan)

Sakamichi Onoda (Yowamushi Pedal)

Kunou Totonou (Do Not Say Mystery)

Mutta Nanba (Space Brothers)

Bojji(Ranking of Kings)

Best Female Lead Award Nominations:

Katsuragi Hayame(Promise Cinderella)

Takiguchi Yoi (In the Clear Moonlit Dusk)

Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End)

Maomao (The Apothecary Diaries)

Yona (Yona of the Dawn)

Best Supporting Male Award Nominations:

Amura Tooru (Detective Conan)

Kage(Ranking of Kings)

Manjirō Sano (Tokyo Revengers)

Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

Best Supporting Female Award:

Satou Youko(The Fable)

Tagahashi Yua(Ashita, Watashi wa Dareka no Kanojo)

Shinobu Wakamiya(Chihayafuru)

Some names listed here are expected, such as Eren and Bojji. After all, these two are the most popular works. But I am a little surprised that Mikasa is not on the list. I think she should be here!

Moreover, "Demon Slayer" and "Jujutsu Kaisen" also have no character finalists at all, which feels a little unconvincing. Of course, maybe it is because the comics are a bit more general than the animation.

Perhaps some of these names are unfamiliar to many of you, such as Do Not Say Mystery, which is a comic work with the theme of suspense and reasoning. The Japanese drama of the same name is also released. "Promise Cinderella" is also released as a Japanese drama of the same name.

Although the works we hope to see are not shortlisted, each on the list is also excellent work. All of them are worth reading, and may be used as a reference for many friends who like comics!

Well, that's all for today. Who is your favorite manga character? Feel free to leave a comment.
