Hammered Copper Moscow Mule Mug Made of 100% pure copper, hammered brass handle Moscow Mule Mug/Cup. Moscow Mule is a vodka-based cocktail with the addition of unusual ginger beer. Vodka was still relatively unknown outside of Russia and Central Europe in the years after World War II. Heublein President John Martin recently purchased Smirnoff's name and recipe, and he went out to promote his new product. As the story goes, Martin stopped off for dinner and drink at the Cock 'n' Bull on Sunset Strip, where his friend, owner Jack Morgan, was struggling to sell his homemade ginger beer. Another friend who inherited the collection and lime wedges has a Moscow Mule. Martin combined three seemingly hopeless endeavors into one of the most popular cocktails of the one of the 1950s and early 1960s. He even got stars like Woody Allen to promote his concoction. ----- To prepare the Moscow Mule You need: - 1 copper mug - 1/2 lime - 2 ounces vodka - 4 to 6 ounces ginger beer, preferably homemade or Cock 'n' Bull or D&G Old Jamaica brand ----- Squeeze lime into a Collins glass (or copper mug) and half Drop the lime. Add two or three large ice cubes, pour in the vodka and top with cold ginger beer. Serve with a stirring stick.
