8 CDs housed in a beautiful clamshell box. Bringing together all his 1960s studio recordings plus demo and live recordings. With extensive sleeve note essay, original liner notes and a rare 2000 interview with Davy Graham. The godfather of British acoustic guitar, Davy Graham has had a tremendous influence on guitarists from Martin Carthy, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn and Paul Simon to Jimmy Page, Graham Coxon and Bernard Butler. He studied music from India, the Middle East and North Africa to devise new tunings and ways of playing blues, jazz and English traditional music. One of his most enduring legacies is the DADGAD tuning. An absolutely original, creative musical giant, Davy thought about things in a different way and wasn't bound by any musical preconceptions. This sumptuous 8CD set includes the seminal, and hugely influential, 1965 albums: 'Folk, Blues & Beyond' and 'Folk Roots', New Routes', the latter recorded with Shirley Collins. Both albums served as important templates for Pentangle and Fairport Convention to develop English folk-rock. The original version of 'Anji' from 1962 - Graham's most well-known composition, recorded by Simon & Garfunkel, Bert Jansch and many others - appears alongside a stunning live performance. All in all, 'He Moved Through The Fair' provides a marvellous opportunity to focus attention on this remarkable musician. David Michael Gordon Graham, guitarist, born 26 November 1940; died 15 December 2008.
