Before 1990 all the grapes from Combier’s 13 hectares of vineyards were consigned to the local co-operative. However, when son Laurent Combier returned from oenology school imbued with a vision of the heights that could be achieved with the estate’s grapes, the family built a winery and began making its own wine. Today the estate covers 19 hectares and the wines are considered amongst the very best of the appellation.
